Italian environmental counsel for food-industry groups, organised catering businesses and used cooking-oil operators. Article 233 of Legislative Decree No 152/2006 addresses used vegetable and animal oils and fats through a distinct sectoral scheme. It is not interchangeable with the CONOU framework for mineral lubricating oils.
Food manufacturing and catering waste
A food producer, hotel chain or restaurant group may need advice on classifying its used oils, storage and transfer documentation, and the legal conditions for collection by authorised companies.
CONOE duties and different categories of operator
The assessment distinguishes waste generators and holders from collection, transport and recovery businesses. It is essential not to assume that producers of new edible oils always have the same statutory position as operators handling waste oil.
Contracts and environmental due diligence
Contractual allocation of collection responsibilities, cross-border arrangements, inspections and acquisitions may call for a limited Italian-law opinion or a regulatory-risk review.
Scope and deliverable
A legal memorandum on waste classification, the responsible operator, consortium or delivery duties, contractual risk and possible administrative responses.
